As discussed at WordCamp Denver, we’ve got a new version of the Carrington Blog theme available now as a beta.
This release has a variety of new features, including:
- Threaded comments.
- Lightboxes for image galleries.
- Customizable colors.
- Selectable custom header images.
- Simplified CSS and more efficient CSS delivery.
- Updated and improved README files (also available online).
There is a little more we plan to add before the official 2.0 release, but we wanted to get this out for feedback and bug reports before we package up the official 2.0 release.

This site has been updated, of course, as an example.
Hmm, not getting any CSS from css.php, just giving a 404 error. Probably a plugin interfering or something.
Yep, it was just me. This theme gets better and better.

Purchasing a Carrington theme helps support our development of it. GPL doesn’t mean you can’t have a price tag on something.

Newbie trying hard to understand…
1. I did not see where to change colors and images for the theme.
2. I would like to add this as a widget – I currently have it as a separate page, and I’d like to put it in one of the sidebars. Is that possible? Or can you only use widgets that are included with the theme?
3. I think I understand that nesting pages would be difficult? It would be nice to have an About page with a couple of sub-pages.
This template is wonderful, thank you for all the hard work. I’m sure I’m only seeing 10% of what it can do, but what I see is awesome. I haven’t yet switched to this template (I’m using theme tester) because I have to rearrange my pages to make sense with this theme. I’ve tested several other themes looking for one I like, but this is tops.

Sorry, I didn’t see the forums – I’ll see if i can find an answer there.
I’m using MAMP to develop locally and the stylesheet isn’t loading correctly. When I visit the css.php file directly I get an “undefined index error”, a few more errors and then finally the CSS markup. I suspect that its a permissions issue, but after trying a few chmod things I couldn’t figure out a solution — any advice?
I’m having the same issues with WAMP! Not sure if I like the CSS method anyway.
Try the latest in SVN. Also, try turning off error display.

The thing I like about this is the threaded comments on pages work without any tinkering. of course you introduce this now that I figured out the tricks to getting them to work in standard themes. I am going to have fun with the Jam version…

Does this use WordPress 2.7′s comment threading feature or is it developed in-house?

This uses the standard WP 2.7 threaded comments feature. Carrington builds entirely on core WP functionality to ensure as much forward compatibility as possible.
I really like this theme for my new blog notesonneworleans.net. It seems to fit perfectly. But I don’t see how to change any of the elements like font size. Also, I want to be able to monetize it with Adsense and the like but I don’t see where in the CSS to do this. It doesn’t seem like a standard CSS. I am new to all this.
Is there a way to do this? A tutorial? Or should I just go with another theme…
